Cinema 4D: Topography-style Render

Following a tutorial from Greyscale Gorilla, I made this weird macro-style shot of some pretty funky geometry. I used this abstract piece from Mark Chadwick to drive the colour and height information of the strands. I also started fiddling with the physical render settings, to achieve depth of field, chromatic aberration, and some lens distortion inside of C4D.
